Australia Outreach

The Lord hand picked a team of eight from the Packinghouse Youth Group to serve His people in Australia during the last two weeks of July.  They spent the first part of their trip in the city of Melbourne, working with Pastor Andrew Russell, his family, and church.  His church meets in the gymnasium of an elementary school and the principal, amazingly enough, is an atheist.  The church body, though small in number, is big in unity and closeness.

The team was blessed through leading worship, helping with the children’s ministry, and attending Bible studies. They spent time with people at an area homeless shelter and did evangelistic outreach in the city.  High School Pastor Jeff Harry, who led the team, taught at the church Sunday service.

The last part of the trip was spent in the city of Canberra, where the team stayed at the home of Mark Shepherd, pastor of Calvary Chapel Canberra.  There they had the opportunity to worship, pray, and fellowship with the youth.  Pastor Jeff taught a Bible study and was blessed to take part in baptizing one of the youth members.
