Aaron and his sons were God’s priests under the old covenant. The Apostle Peter writes that because of Jesus’ resurrection, under the new covenant, we are now all called to be priests. 1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” So this description of Aaron’s ordination is also a fascinating picture of how God wants each of us to live out our daily lives before Him.<\/p>\n
The priests were to take the blood of atonement for the forgiveness of their sins and place it on 3 profoundly picturesque parts of their physical bodies. The blood was to be placed:<\/p>\n
1) on the right ear, meaning they were to be careful in all that they listened to and heard. They were also to faithfully listen for the Lord to speak to them, paying attention carefully in order to learn from Him.<\/p>\n
2) on their right thumb, meaning they were to use care in what they put their hand to. They were servants of the Most High God, and He wanted them to touch lives for Him.<\/p>\n
3) on the right big toe, meaning they were to be concerned with where they chose to walk. They were to spend their lives walking in the pathway God had set out for them.<\/p>\n
What a beautiful picture for us. We are to be just as careful in what we hear, what we touch, and where we walk today.<\/p>\n
“LORD, we ask that we might hear You, serve You, and walk in only Your paths this day.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n =============================================================<\/p>\n\n\n\n Exodus 29 KJV<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1<\/sup>\u00a0And this\u00a0is\u00a0<\/em>the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest\u2019s office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish,\u00a02<\/sup>\u00a0And unleavened bread, and cakes unleavened tempered with oil, and wafers unleavened anointed with oil:\u00a0of<\/em>wheaten flour shalt thou make them.\u00a03<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt put them into one basket, and bring them in the basket, with the bullock and the two rams.\u00a04<\/sup>\u00a0And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water.\u00a05<\/sup>And thou shalt take the garments, and put upon Aaron the coat, and the robe of the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with the curious girdle of the ephod:\u00a06<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt put the mitre upon his head, and put the holy crown upon the mitre.\u00a07<\/sup>\u00a0Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour\u00a0it\u00a0<\/em>upon his head, and anoint him.\u00a08<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt bring his sons, and put coats upon them.\u00a09<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt gird them with girdles, Aaron and his sons, and put the bonnets on them: and the priest\u2019s office shall be theirs for a perpetual statute: and thou shalt consecrate Aaron and his sons.\u00a010<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt cause a bullock to be brought before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the bullock.\u00a011<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt kill the bullock before the\u00a0LORD,\u00a0by<\/em>the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.\u00a012<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put\u00a0it\u00a0<\/em>upon the horns of the altar with thy finger, and pour all the blood beside the bottom of the altar.\u00a013<\/sup>\u00a0And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul\u00a0that is\u00a0<\/em>above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that\u00a0is\u00a0<\/em>upon them, and burn\u00a0them<\/em>upon the altar.\u00a0\u00a014<\/sup>\u00a0But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it\u00a0is\u00a0<\/em>a sin offering. 15<\/sup>\u00a0Thou shalt also take one ram;
