Each of the five offerings from the Old Testament point clearly to Jesus and were fulfilled by Him, the Messiah, in the New Testament.<\/p>\n
The burnt offering<\/strong>, also called the sweet-savor offering<\/strong>, is the first. The Apostle Paul tells us that Jesus<\/em> is that burnt offering when he wrote in Ephesians 5:2, “Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”<\/p>\n The grain or meal offering<\/strong> is the second. The Apostle John says in his gospel, John 12:24, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” So Jesus is also our grain or meal offering who laid down His life and was consumed for us.<\/p>\n The peace or fellowship offering<\/strong> is the third. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans in Romans 5:1, “We now have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Jesus is our peace offering, leading to personal fellowship with God.<\/p>\n The sin offering<\/strong> is the fourth. Even though Jesus had no sin, He became sin for us as Paul wrote to the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “He who knew no sin was made sin for us that we might be the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” Jesus is our<\/em> sin offering.<\/p>\n The trespass offering<\/strong> is the fifth. In 2 Corinthian 5:19 Paul says, “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” Jesus is also our trespass offering.<\/p>\n There is a tried and true statement concerning scripture that says, “The New is in the Old concealed, the Old is in the New revealed.\u201d<\/p>\n “Thank you LORD that You have become all the offerings and sacrifices on my behalf. Since You have found me guiltless I desire to be useful to You this day.
