Moses, the man of God, will soon go home to be with the Lord. But before he died, he was given one final duty; to personally bless each of the 12 tribes of Israel just as Isaac and Jacob had done before him. Moses had served God for over 40 years, and those years had been blessed with wonder-filled miracles of God as He delivered His people.

Upon careful study we find there are 5 blessings in the first 5 verses alone.

1. The blessing of God’s majestic presence in their midst. Moses reminds them of God’s majestic glory, which they saw shining on Mt. Sinai like the sun flooding the desert wilderness. God’s point was that He would continue to be with them if they would choose to walk with Him.

2. The blessing of God’s love and care. God loved His people by giving them all the provisions they needed. He gave them security and protection, ensuring they were safe from harm and enemies.

3. The blessing of God’s gift of worship. His people were given the privilege of coming near to Him in worship.

4. The blessing of God’s instruction manual given to them in the law. He gave His word so that His people would know how to live, how to secure fullness of life, and how to have victory over the trials and temptations of life.

5. The blessing of God’s promise to rule and reign over them. The state of Israel was to be a theocracy with God Himself as their Ruler, King, and Master. The leaders of the nation were to seek the counsel of God in all decisions, using His word as the nation’s constitution. God did this so the nation of Israel would be a light to the gentile nations surrounding them.

God is still in the business of giving blessings to His children. He blesses us with each new day of life, giving us every necessity we need, so that they can in turn be a blessing to others.

“LORD, we thank You for the many blessings You continue to pour out on our lives faithfully.
