Now as the ark of the LORD came into the City of David, Michal, Saul&#8217;s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first time the people tried to bring up the ark, they did it their way, with tragic results (1 Sam. 6). But this time they did it God&#8217;s way. The first time they were ignorant of God&#8217;s command that the ark be carried only by Levite men of the family of Kohath. They were also ignorant of the command that only the priest could touch the ark, and then only when he had the blood of a sacrificial goat on his finger, on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. On this second attempt to bring up the ark, David carefully followed God&#8217;s clear instructions on how to do it correctly, as He had commanded through Moses.<\/p>\n<p>David&#8217;s dance was a bold display of his fervent love for God. David did not dance to put on a show to impress any bystanders. His actions were not to please people, but to please God. The simple fact was that David\u2019s love for God caused him to dance.\u00a0God was pleased because heartfelt worship, flowing from the heart of the believer, always pleases God&#8217;s heart. As Jesus told the woman at the well in John 4:24: &#8220;God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.&#8221; What a challenge for us in the sophisticated, 21st-century church?\u00a0David had removed his royal attire and put on the simple linen robe of a priest. He was expressing his reliance upon God before all the people. He wasn\u2019t worried about looking like a king; he was too busy being a worshiper of God Almighty. We need a little more of that in our own lives. Heartfelt worship touches the heart of God.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;LORD we want to please Your heart today. We worship you boldly now in spirit and in truth.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Are you dancing yet?<\/p>\n\n\n<p>=============================================================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Samuel 6 KJV<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0Again, David gathered together all\u00a0<em>the\u00a0<\/em>chosen\u00a0<em>men\u00a0<\/em>of Israel, thirty thousand.\u00a0<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0And David arose, and went with all the people that\u00a0<em>were\u00a0<\/em>with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0of hosts that dwelleth\u00a0<em>between\u00a0<\/em>the cherubims.\u00a0<sup>3<\/sup>\u00a0And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that\u00a0<em>was\u00a0<\/em>in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.\u00a0<sup>4<\/sup>\u00a0And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which\u00a0<em>was\u00a0<\/em>at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.\u00a0\u00a0<sup>5<\/sup>\u00a0And David and all the house of Israel played before the\u00a0LORD\u00a0on all manner of\u00a0<em>instruments made of\u00a0<\/em>fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals. <sup>6<\/sup>\u00a0And when they came to Nachon\u2019s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth\u00a0<em>his hand\u00a0<\/em>to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook\u00a0<em>it<\/em>.\u00a0<sup>7<\/sup>\u00a0And the anger of the\u00a0LORDwas kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for\u00a0<em>his<\/em>error; and there he died by the ark of God.\u00a0<sup>8<\/sup>\u00a0And David was displeased, because the\u00a0LORD\u00a0had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez-uzzah to this day.\u00a0<sup>9<\/sup>\u00a0And David was afraid of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0that day, and said, How shall the ark of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0come to me?\u00a0<sup>10<\/sup>\u00a0So David would not remove the ark of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.\u00a0<sup>11<\/sup>\u00a0And the ark of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the\u00a0LORD\u00a0blessed Obed-edom, and all his household. <sup>12<\/sup>\u00a0And it was told king David, saying, The\u00a0LORD\u00a0hath blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that\u00a0<em>pertaineth<\/em>unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with gladness.\u00a0<sup>13<\/sup>\u00a0And it was\u00a0<em>so\u00a0<\/em>, that when they that bare the ark of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.\u00a0<sup>14<\/sup>\u00a0And David danced before the\u00a0LORD\u00a0with all\u00a0<em>his\u00a0<\/em>might; and David\u00a0<em>was\u00a0<\/em>girded with a linen ephod.\u00a0<sup>15<\/sup>\u00a0So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.\u00a0<sup>16<\/sup>\u00a0And as the ark of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0came into the city of David, Michal Saul\u2019s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the\u00a0LORD; and she despised him in her heart. <sup>17<\/sup>\u00a0And they brought in the ark of the\u00a0LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the\u00a0LORD.\u00a0\u00a0<sup>18<\/sup>\u00a0And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the\u00a0LORD\u00a0of hosts.\u00a0<sup>19<\/sup> And he dealt among all the people,\u00a0<em>even\u00a0<\/em>among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece\u00a0<em>of flesh<\/em>, and a flagon\u00a0<em>of wine\u00a0<\/em>. So all the people departed every one to his house. <sup>20<\/sup>\u00a0Then David returned to bless his household.
