After God answered Job, Job said that he had heard great things about God but now, after his face-to-face encounter with God, he realized he had been arrogant and sinful. God had earlier called Job a righteous man, but when Job actually saw the living God, he could only think about one thing: repentance. If a righteous man needs to repent when he comes to speak with God, how much more the rest of us when we come to Him in prayer.<\/p>\n

Job’s confession and repentance finally took place, but he still didn’t know why he had suffered. However, he no longer complained about it; it didn’t matter to him anymore because he’d been brought to a place of complete submission and humility, even without getting answers to his questions. What God had revealed about Himself to Job eclipsed all questions and all suffering. Here at the end of the book, Job quietly bowed before his Creator and admitted that God was sovereign.<\/p>\n

We find at least 3 lessons in Job that we can apply to our own lives:<\/p>\n

    1. We should not try to figure out someone else’s situation in our own wisdom.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. We must have compassion for others who are in desperate predicaments, being helpful and not critical.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          \u00a0<\/p>\n

          1. We can expect our own suffering to have a joyful end; if not here, then at least in eternity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            “LORD, You alone are God and the source of all wisdom. Please give us Your wisdom today as we try to help others along the pilgrim’s pathway.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

            1<\/sup>\u00a0Then Job answered the\u00a0LORD, and said,\u00a02<\/sup>\u00a0I know that thou canst do every\u00a0thing\u00a0<\/em>, and\u00a0that\u00a0<\/em>no thought can be withholden from thee.\u00a0\u00a03<\/sup>\u00a0Who\u00a0is\u00a0<\/em>he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.\u00a04<\/sup>\u00a0Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.\u00a05<\/sup>\u00a0I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.\u00a06<\/sup>\u00a0Wherefore I abhor\u00a0myself\u00a0<\/em>, and repent in dust and ashes. 7<\/sup> And it was\u00a0so\u00a0<\/em>, that after the\u00a0LORD\u00a0had spoken these words unto Job, the\u00a0LORDsaid to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me\u00a0the thing that is\u00a0<\/em>right, as my servant Job\u00a0hath\u00a0<\/em>.\u00a08<\/sup>Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you\u00a0after your\u00a0<\/em>folly, in that ye have not spoken of me\u00a0the thing which is\u00a0<\/em>right, like my servant Job.\u00a0\u00a09<\/sup>\u00a0So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em>Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the\u00a0LORD\u00a0commanded them: the\u00a0LORD\u00a0also accepted Job.\u00a0 10<\/sup>\u00a0And the\u00a0LORD\u00a0turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the\u00a0LORD\u00a0gave Job twice as much as he had before.\u00a0\u00a011<\/sup>\u00a0Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the\u00a0LORD\u00a0had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.\u00a012<\/sup>\u00a0So the\u00a0LORD\u00a0blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.\u00a013<\/sup>He had also seven sons and three daughters.\u00a014<\/sup>\u00a0And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.\u00a015<\/sup>\u00a0And in all the land were no women found\u00a0so\u00a0<\/em>fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.\u00a016<\/sup>\u00a0After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons\u2019 sons,\u00a0even\u00a0<\/em>four generations.\u00a017<\/sup>\u00a0So Job died,\u00a0being\u00a0<\/em>old and full of days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
