This is a prophetic statement applied to both King David and to the Son of David, Jesus Christ, when He was on the cross almost 1000 years later. David spoke of God’s redemption being of truth<\/em>. A dictionary definition of truth is “conformity to fact or reality, integrity, consistency, exactness, verified fact.” Sometimes the truth is like surgery, which must first wound before it can bring healing.<\/p>\n

There is a story about a new employee at a florist shop who was taking an order over the phone for a funeral wreath. The customer said, “I want ‘Rest in Peace’ on both sides.” She paused, thought for a moment, and then continued, “And, if there’s room: ‘We’ll Meet in Heaven.'” Everyone was surprised when the flowers arrived the next day with the following inscription: “Rest in Peace on Both Sides. If There’s Room, We’ll Meet in Heaven.” We laugh at this, but there is an important truth in the story. Those who have surrendered to Jesus do find peace on “both sides.”<\/p>\n

We know peace in part<\/em> in this life, but we will know peace in full<\/em> in the next life. There is also an important error in the inscription that is worth pointing out. Jesus has made sure that there is more than enough room in heaven. As Peter wrote:<\/p>\n

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Pet. 3:9)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Thank You, LORD, for Your redemption and eternal life, freely given to us. Help us to live today in Your truth so others might see and be drawn into an eternal relationship with You.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

1<\/sup> In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2<\/sup> Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3<\/sup> For thou art <\/em>my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name\u2019s sake lead me, and guide me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4<\/sup> Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art <\/em>my strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5<\/sup> Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6<\/sup> I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7<\/sup> I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8<\/sup> And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9<\/sup> Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea <\/em>, my soul and my belly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10<\/sup> For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11<\/sup> I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12<\/sup> I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

13<\/sup> For I have heard the slander of many: fear was <\/em>on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

17<\/sup> Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and <\/em>let them be silent in the grave. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

18<\/sup> Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

19<\/sup> Oh <\/em>how great is <\/em>thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which <\/em>thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20<\/sup> Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

21<\/sup> Blessed be <\/em>the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

22<\/sup> For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

23<\/sup> O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for <\/em>the LORDpreserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
