David stated that the most remarkable and impressive thing about the Messiah would be the words that came from His lips. The New Testament Gospel of Luke records when Jesus spoke in the synagogue of his hometown, Nazareth. Even though the assembly was filled with people who had watched Him grow up as a boy, they were still amazed when He read to them from Isaiah 61, which beautifully predicted His ministry:

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. (Luke 4:18–22)

Here was the Author of life, speaking the words of life, to His creation. He was the only one there who understood what life really was. So much grace poured from His lips that huge crowds followed Him, hanging on His every word.
