Frederick the Great (1712\u20131786), the king of Prussia, had a discussion with his chaplain regarding the truthfulness of the Bible. He complained, \u201cEvery time I\u2019ve asked for proof, I\u2019m given some enormous book on the inspiration of the Bible, which I have neither time nor disposition to read. If the Bible is really from God, you should be able to give me proof of its inspiration in a word.\u201d The chaplain wisely answered, \u201cYour majesty, it is possible to give the proof you ask for in a single word.\u201d Frederick looked at him skeptically. \u201cIsrael,\u201d the chaplain said. Frederick, so the story goes, was silent.<\/p>\n<p>In spite of persecutions, captivity, exile, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Holocaust, and numerous current on-going anti-Semitic efforts to extinguish the Jews, they remain. Israel\u2019s enemies will never have the last word\u2014God Almighty will. Christian believers are grafted into Israel and are the spiritual seed of Abraham.
