Bio
Jon and Cher Cadd are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. After ministering for 22 years in Zimbabwe, the Cadd’s are now serving with the East Democratic Republic of Congo (EDRC) team from Kampala, Uganda. Jon is enjoying flying the Cessna Caravan after years of flying a 206. He says, “The Caravan is a real workhorse of a plane and great fun to fly.” Congo is a new operation for the Cadd’s, and they are excited about all the wonderful things there are to see and learn. Even though they are in a different program, Jon is still doing Chief Pilot duties and checking out new pilots. Acts 4:13 is a favorite verse of Jon’s. “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” Jon shares, “I am so glad that God chooses to use ordinary people like me. Spending time with Him, actually letting time pass in His presence, is the secret to being like Him, which is our goal as Christians.” Cher is finding learning new cultures an adventure and is enjoying being part of a multi-cultural program. The last line of Isaiah 49:23 says, “…those who hope in me (the Lord) will not be disappointed.” This reflects the real source of her peace. Jon, the son of missionary parents, was born in Idaho, and moved to the Philippines at age 10. He loved life there and became interested in mission aviation when he saw MAF pilots at work. Jon accepted Christ as his Savior in high school. He comments, “I had a few years of ‘craziness’ during my years at college, but like the prodigal son, I came back to God, my Father. This relationship is the joy of my life.” Jon studied at George Fox College and then at Portland Community College where he obtained his A&P licenses. He holds airline transport pilot and flight instructor’s licenses, with multi-engine and seaplane ratings as well as a commercial helicopter rating. He is also working on an instrument instructor’s rating to add to his instructor’s rating. Cher was born and raised in a Christian home in Oregon, and accepted Christ as her Savior at age 6. She received a B.S. degree at George Fox College, where she also met Jon. They were married in August 1972. They have two sons, Joshua and Caleb, who grew up in Zimbabwe. Joshua is married to Audra and they have a daughter, Raeleigh, and a son, Gabriel. Josh and his family are living in Nairobi, Kenya, and working with Wycliffe Associates. Caleb is single and living in the USA. The Cadds are very grateful for the faithful prayers and support of friends during the past 23 years. “It is such a continual blessing to us and such an encouragement.” To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF. You are invited to become a ministry partner with Jon and Cher in what God is doing in Africa through MAF. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support. |
