Micah 2:12–13: “I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob, / I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; / I will put them together like sheep of the fold, / Like a flock in the midst of their pasture; / They shall make a loud noise because of so many people. / The one who breaks open will come up before them; / They will break out, / Pass through the gate, / And go out by it; / Their king will pass before them, / With the LORD at their head.”

This is a beautiful picture of the second coming of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, and how He will gather together all those who are His remnant. He will be like a shepherd breaking down barriers and obstacles so His flock can come into the best pastures. He knows us and we will know Him so well that we will follow His voice.
There is a great story of a bag lady who attended a service at a Manhattan Rescue Service. After the message, while she was in line to receive soup, she saw the pastor and told him she wanted to give her life to Jesus. She excitedly said, “I never knew my name was in the Bible.” The pastor smiled at her and asked, “What is your name?” “Edith,” she replied. “I’m sorry, Edith, but I’m afraid your name isn’t in the Bible.” “Yes it is,” she replied. “You just read it!” He opened his King James Bible to the passage he’d read from, Luke 15:2: “This man receives sinners and eateth with them.” “See, there it is!” she exclaimed. “Jesus receives sinners and Edith with them!” And so He does.
The Good Shepherd, Jesus, does call us by name. He draws us until we give up trying to save ourselves and are willing to let Him save us His own way. That is the way we first came to salvation and it continues to be the way the Good Shepherd draws repentant and wayward sheep today.
“LORD, we repent of our wanderings again this day and look for You to lead us into the places You want us to be.”
