Leviticus 9:23–24: “And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of meeting, and came out and blessed the people. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people, and fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.”
December 23rd, 2022 by Pastor Ed in devotionalOur daily quiet times are offerings to the Lord that can only be characterized as frail, human, and weak. However, when we faithfully and obediently offer Him what little we have, God meets us and adds His part, which will be like the fire described here.
Aaron and his sons, the priests, prepared their sacrifice and offered it on the altar. It certainly was a fail, human, weak act. But we read that suddenly, “fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering.” God acknowledged their frail human efforts with an unmistakable Divine display of acceptance. It will probably not happen quite as dramatically for us, but we can expect God will do the same with our fail human offerings of time spent before Him, reading His Word and seeking Him.
This miraculous, visible fire confirmed to them that God had accepted their offering, and the people shouted for joy and worshiped God. God wants to take our frail offerings and add His fire so that people who do not know Him will also find joy in worshiping Him.
“LORD, we lay before You our offering, so small and human. Please put Your fire, Your power into our lives today as we seek to serve You.”
