2 Samuel 9:13: “So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table. And he was lame in both his feet.”
June 18th, 2023 by Pastor Ed in devotionalWhen King David was at the table with Mephibosheth, it seems he never mentioned the man’s broken feet. We can be sure that David’s other guests took the lead from the king and also never brought up his condition. This grandson of King Saul’s, Mephibosheth, serves as a beautiful picture of us as believers who are also handicapped, in a spiritual sense, in our walks.
Jesus is our King and we are invited to sit with Him at His table. And because we are His guests, we cannot complain about anyone else the King has called to His table. We have no right to question, hinder, or reject those the Lord has invited. We can also be sure that God will not mention our once broken condition at the coming Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
We already come to the Lord’s Table every time we share communion together as believers. Have others kept you from the Lord’s Table by pointing out your faults and shaming you from coming into God’s loving acceptance? The Communion Table is for blood-bought sinners who recognize their need for the cleansing Blood of the Lamb. When we come in humility and brokenness, we can be sure that the King of All Creation will not mention our sins, ever. Have you let others drive you away from your King? He is waiting right this moment to restore fellowship with you. Confess your sins and turn back to Him by running into His waiting arms.
“LORD, forgive our sins, take our lives, and walk with us; directing our steps we ask, in Jesus’ name.”
