1 Chronicles 3:1: “Now these were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: The firstborn was Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second, Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelitess;”

This genealogy and the one found in Luke 3, confirms the line of Jesus from Adam through David. This is critical in proving that the Old Testament prophecies that the Messiah would come from David and that the son of David would sit on the throne forever (Ps. 89:3–4, Jer. 33:15–18) were in fact fulfilled in Jesus. Because of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, all the Jewish lineage records were lost. Therefore, in order to prove that Jesus was the Son of David, He had to be born before 70 AD.

God has left a clear path for honest seekers to follow as they search for truth. Do you doubt and struggle with faith today? Be assured that the God of Abraham, Israel, and David, who was capable of directing human history back then, is just as capable in your life today. In fact, God is seeking you out today. He is not a passive God, resting on His throne; but an active God, seeking and speaking to you today through His written word. Are you having difficulties in life? God is waiting to respond to your prayer.

A little boy was trying to pick up a rock. He said, “Dad, it’s too heavy.” The father said, “Son, you can do it.” The boy strained and tried, but said, “Dad, it’s too heavy.” The father insisted, “Son, you can do it.” He tried again. “Dad, it’s too heavy.” The father said, “Son, you’re not using all your strength.” “Dad, I am! I am! It’s too heavy!” “Son, you’re not using all your strength.” “Dad, why do you keep saying I’m not using all my strength? It’s too heavy!” The father replied, “I know you’re not using all your strength because you haven’t asked for my help yet.” What is your struggle with God? What are you holding back?

“LORD, we give it all to You again this day, in Jesus’ name.”
