Why Home Studies
The Book Of Acts gives us four essential elements present in the early church that allowed it to grow in grace & maturity. “And they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42 KJV) As believers we cannot expect to grow in grace and the knowledge of the Lord unless we continue steadfastly in these essentials. The Apostle’s doctrine (teaching of the Word), breaking of bread (sharing communion), prayer (talking to our Father in heaven) can all happen in a large assembly. But the issue of fellowship requires believers to share between each other their own personal experience in the things of the Lord. Although the Lord has graced us with many different kinds of small group studies here over the past few years, the home fellowships remain an essential part of church life. Fellowship happens easiest, we have found, in the more intimate setting of a small group gathering in a family home. Almost everyone feels a little intimidated going to a home when you don’t know the people well. But it’s worth the initial effort to press on through that awkward first step when the rewards are so great. We strongly encourage you to find a home study that you relate to well and grow in Christ with us there. Pastor Ed Rea |
