1 Kings 9:3: “And the LORD said to [Solomon]: ‘I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.’”
July 12th, 2023 by Pastor Ed in devotionalNotice that it was the desire, the passion of God, to give His heart and love to Solomon. He said of the temple, “My eyes and My heart will be there.” God still desires to be with His children this way. We’re told again in the New Testament that God does not dwell in houses built with hands but that our bodies are the temple of God (Acts 17:24, 1 Cor. 3:16). God has chosen to live within the hearts of His people. It is all about a heart relationship.
On the way home from church one Sunday, a little girl turned to her mother and said, “Mommy, the pastor’s sermon this morning confused me.” “Oh,” the mother asked, “why is that?” “Well,” said the little girl, “he said that God is bigger than we are. Is that true?” “Yes, honey;” the mother replied, “that’s true.” “And he also said that God lives in us. Is that true, Mommy?” “Yes,” the mother replied again. “Well,” asked the little girl, “if God is bigger than us and He lives in us, wouldn’t He show through?” That is the very heart of being a witness for the Lord. If we allow the God who is greater than us to live in us, He will show through.
“LORD, may You show through to others in our lives today. Overflow our lives we ask in Jesus’ name.”
