I woke up this morning thinking about an old song: “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Fall is in the air! I know we’ll have a few more warm days, but fall is in the air! The leaves are changing. The air is cooler. The days are shorter. I love this time of year.
Fall is harvest time, and I want to harvest all the good, all the joy, all the peace, all the happiness that is waiting for me to embrace. There’s so much to be thankful for. I am going to spend this day looking for the good, looking for the things that I can turn and thank the Lord for. I want to stand outside for just a minute and absorb the beauty around me: the smell in the air, the feel of the breeze on my skin, the green that’s popping up on the hillsides around me because of the rain, the song of the birds, the nicker of the horses calling to me when I go out to feed, the smell of the hay as I pull the bale apart to give them flakes of alfalfa, and the warmth of their skin as I reach out and pat their necks. I want to take my thoughts captive and choose to see the good that is around me, the little things that we tend to miss in the course of the day. Stopping to smell the roses.
God intends for us to take those moments, and He intends for His creation to revive us and heal and restore us in ways that we don’t even understand. Don’t miss His love for you today. Purposely take a moment to stop and look around you and be blessed.
I am a blessed woman. I choose joy.
