    We come now to the Old Testament Book of First Kings. The story of Solomon is fascinating because of the wonderful inheritance this man stepped into as he was crowned king even in advance of his father David’s death. He came into the kingdom at the height of its grandeur, and God gave him wisdom, riches and power. He is the author of the wise Book of Proverbs and the Song of Solomon but the Book of Ecclesiastes is also just as important because of the negative guidance it records. Solomon had it all but his misappropriation of these God given gifts became the seed of Solomon’s downfall. How we need to be careful with the good gifts that the Lord has given each person. Although they are given for us to enjoy we are wise to remember as Solomon saw, that all of this earth is vanity and striving after wind.  The race is not a sprint but a marathon so pace your self, pilgrim…
